Dwight D. Eisenhower's Successful Presidency Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Dwight D Eisenhower was born October 14th, 1890 in Dennison, Texas. He was raised in Kansas with 5 other brothers. Eisenhower was known by his nickname, Ike. The Eisenhower family lived well, but not elegantly. Items that were bought were usually based on durability rather than overall appearance. With a family household of 6 children and 2 parents, finances needed to be managed on their limited income. The entire family had to work together to carry the family load. The sons contributed a small sum at a young age by gardening, keeping chickens and selling eggs and vegetables. When the boys were older they hired themselves out to nearby farmers or companies for work. Eisenhower and his brothers were all close, getting along well with each other. Despite being the third child out of six Dwight was a born leader, he always stuck up for his brothers no matter what, playing the role of the scrapper in the family (one who is ready to fight for the rest).
