Text Analysis: Dragonwings Ka Ming Siu Asian American Studies 20 Sat 9:00~12:00 The Asian American novel that I am going to write a critical analysis on is called the Dragonwings. It is one of the few Asian American novels that are written by Laurence Yep. This book has described the story of the first wave Chinese immigrations. Here is a brief summery of the book. The story begins on the spring of 1903. An eight-years old boy named Mood Shadow lived with his mother and his grandmother in a village of southern part of China. Then one day a cousin came and brought Mood Shadow to a place where they call the Golden Mountain to join Mood Shadowfs father who makes his living doing laundry. And for the next seven years Moon Shadow will help his father with his laundry business and experience things that the first generation immigrant had experienced.
