Shirley Jacksons picture of small-town or village life in The Lottery was very similar to that of Richard Wrights A Man Who Was Almost a Man. They both give good impressions on what it would be like to be living in a small town. On the other hand Willa Cathers Pauls Case really gave a complete different why of living in the city compared to village or small-town life. They were two different styles of stories but they gave so any different views of life and how people live. The two ways of life really make you stop and think on which one would be harder to live in. The authors really do a good job at expressing there themes and ideas in there stories to make there stories seem real and effective.
