Communism and the Failure of the Social Contract for Karl Marx Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In 1848 Karl Marx finished writing The Communist Manifesto, a set of ideas that attack capitalists, oppressive regime. The main argument of this work is that class struggles are the driving force behind the development of history and that a revolution is needed to rid the society of its classes. According to Karl Marx, two classes were formed the: bourgeoisie (exploiting and ruling class) and proletariat (exploited and oppressed class). Marx believed that the capitalist system is an unequal system, in which the few rich and powerful took advantage and profited from the pain of poor and powerless. Thus, he believed that the capitalist system is too flawed and should be replaced. Marx was sure that a revolution was necessary, and that the working class would take control of the means of production, rid the society of property and ownership rights and erase the lines between classes. This conflict is bound to happen because the bourgeoisie were determined to increase their own profits by exploiting the proletariat.
