The Influence of Ginevra King Upon F. Scott Fitzgerald She was the lavish prototype for Judy Jones in “Winter Dreams”, and became one of the most famous literary characters in American literature as the incredulous Daisy Buchanan of The Great Gatsby (Noden). She was not F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife Zelda Sayre, but Ginevra King. King was the beautiful and wealthy debutante from Lake Forest, Illinois, whom Fitzgerald fell in love with while attending Princeton University in 1915. Their love affair would be brief, lasting a mere two years, but King and the affair would become the inspiration for the majority of Fitzgerald’s female characters and literary works (Stevens). Information about Fitzgerald’s love for King surfaced only recently after King’s family donated numerous personal items of hers to Princeton University, including her diary, which chronicled the events of her life from 1912 to 1915, typed copies of every letter King sent to Fitzgerald, and a short autobiographical story entitled “Love? Story,” which includes a character based on Fitzgerald as the object of Kin......
