Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451) and Lois Lowry (The Giver) have both written a novel in which a perfect society ends up being the exact opposite of that. The societies in these books are meant to be futuristic; however they are the authors warnings about what could happen if our own civilization attempts uniform equality. The stories are composed of one characters realization of the truth and his attempt to change his world, the character that helps him change it, and a messed up idea about family.
It was a pleasure to burn, (Bradbury 3). The protagonist of Fahrenheit 451 is a firefighter named Montag, whose job is not to put out fires, but rather to burn houses containing books.
