Iron Jawed Angels Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Iron Jawed Angels depicts the final struggle of the womens suffrage movement, which culminated in the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution. The battle for suffrage was a long and difficult process spearheaded by ingenious and talented women, and some of their travails make great dramatic fodder.
This depiction of the woman suffrage movement was heartwarming as well as enraging. I did not know about many of the events portrayed in this film. I do not know how much of it is accurate, but it all seemed very believable. Before watching the movie, I had heard a little about Alice Paul, but this film gave greater insight into one of the champions of woman suffrage.
Personally, I really enjoyed watching this movie; I think it enabled us to see that voting truly is a privilege we take advantage of. The great lengths that women activists had to go through in order to secure our voting rights were astonishing. I knew about the marches and petitioning, but men throwing the protesting women into the streets and putting them in the hospital was a complete shock. The ......
