The first movie dealt with poverty in Bangladesh. It dealt with the harsh reality that people try to ignore. In the beginning it stated that 51 percent of the population was below the poverty line and out of this percentage the total income for most is less than 30-40 dollars a month. Widows are the poorest because they have to provide for the whole family and jobs, especially for woman, are scarce. During the movie a widow spoke forward about some of the harsh living conditions. She stated that holes in the ground are used for toilets, at least one of her children per month obtain an illness, and her whole living community smells of rubbish. On top of the open poverty the community withstands river floods that wash away a lot of the little homes that some people have. This just further increases the poverty level because not only are homes lost but farmers also become landless. In Dihkur, which is in town, some steps towards improvement are being implemented.
