Thoreau states, that government is best which governs least. He also says, that government is best which governs not at all. This all means that Thoreau believes that the people voice is more important and effective than the government. The government should listen to the peoples voice. There are many arguments that Thoreau states to justify the resisting of authority of the people. In response to this it is justified to disobey the government laws when the law is inconsistent, unjust, and immoral. It is not justified when the laws are there to protect people from harms way. Unjust laws exist; shall we be content to obey them, or shall we endanger to amend them, and obey them until we succeeded, or shall we transgress them at once (Thoreau 1797). The government has a hard job. They have to try to please a whole country and even other pars of the world.
