It isnt fair, it isnt right, Mrs. Hutchinson screamed, and they were upon her. The Lottery is a short story that tells about a towns tradition of having a lottery that decided who they would stone each year. This was a tradition in many towns in that area that had been around since before anyone could remember. The people of the town continued to follow the tradition of doing the lottery every year because it was what was expected. The lottery was a pointless tradition that created a corrupt society.
The lottery was done in many towns and had been since before anyone could remember. The people had done it so many times that they only half listened to the directions. The lottery consisted of Mr. Summers drawing lottery tickets from a black box. The whole town stoned the person who got the ticked with the black dot. The lottery was done every year as a town tradition. It was followed in a very exact manner to keep the tradition alive.
