One weekday morning, a well-dressed young African American male was driving his Ford Explorer on Interstate 75. As he glanced up into his rearview mirror, he saw the flashing blue lights of a Georgia State patrol car behind him. His heart sank as he pulled over to the shoulder of the interstate with the trooper following closely behind him. On his way to a job interview, he assumed and hoped that it would not take long. He anticipated the officer asking him for his drivers license and registration, and then proceeding to write him a ticket. Instead, the highway patrol officer walked cautiously toward the SUV, and without asking any questions called for backup. More flashing blue lights, and another trooper was on the scene. They immediately ordered him to get out of his vehicle. He complied with their orders, as they announced their intent to search his vehicle for drugs.
