The Destructors vs. The Most Dangerous Game These two deceivingly similar pieces of fiction, The Destructors, by Graham Greene and The Most Dangerous Game, by Richard Connell, both come with an intriguing plot line, yet only one of the pieces can be deemed an honest work of good literature. The Destructors is an example of a well written piece of literature, focused on the character and complexity of a young boy named Trevor, while The Most Dangerous Game is a poorly written piece of fiction reliant on shadowy characters and an unrealistically forced happy ending. While The Destructors does contain stock characters in the form of Blackie and Mike, these characters are not used as main characters, but as foils for the main character, Trevor. Blackie’s presentation is flat and oversimplified; he is just a boy who leads a pathetic gang. Through the use of Blackie, Trevor’s takeover of the gang and transition in to a leader of the destruction is more effective.
