The great leap Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

A long time ago, there was a pond alongside a lake. This pond was fairly small and each member of our school knew each other by name. The pond lay under a large willow tree; with its lengthy branches lying in the pond. There was always a fresh supply of mosquitoes that swarmed around our lake – regularly offering a juicy meal. We preferred it this way; the large lakes were too hectic. There were rumors that the fish were vulgar in the large lake, and you would swim right by each other and not even say hello. Few of us really knew though, because long ago, the beasts, with their tricks of luring us to be caught, had built a colossal dam that alienated us from the rest of the lake. This dam though was not like the infuriating tail flappers’ dam; this dam was impenetrable. But that was long ago; we have survived here since then. The elders say that we are blessed to be here, for out in the neighboring water, that is rumored to stretch forever, food is scarce and you have to hunt for hours on end to find only one mouthful. Today, the elders are meeting. In the last year......
