POWERPOINT Journey thesis: Journeys, whether physical, internal or imaginative are processes involving the growth and development of characters. When characters embark on a journey, they do so with specific goals in mind. These goals usually define the parameters of the journey however, the journey is much more than the achievement of these goals. This concept is the basis for many texts such as Lord of the Rings – The Two Towers directed by Peter Jackson and Rabbit-Proof Fence directed by Phillip Noyce. Similar ideas of journey are displayed in Journey to the Interior, composed by Margaret Atwood and Lionheart, written by Jesse Martin. Jesse Martin’s Lionheart, is based upon Jesse’s physical journeys, not only of his voyage at sea, where he sails solo, non-stop an unassisted around the world, but also of his childhood. The book is written in first person which causes the reader to become more deeply involved in the books journey.
