Civil disobedience is defined as the refusal to obey a law or follow a policy that is believed to be unjust. Practices of civil disobedience are usually non-violent and carry out the technique of passive resistance to bring attention to the issue. In many cases, civil disobedience is quite effective and achieves the objective of making the unjust law well known and/or changed but much of the time it is all done to no avail.
