In Jonathan Algers The Education Value of Diversity, he explains the importance of diversity and how it is often misinterpreted. For example, he states that in a place of higher education, students learn that not all people of a particular race act or think alike. By seeing firsthand that all black or Hispanic students do not think or act alike, white students can overcome learned prejudices that may have arisen in part from a lack of direct exposure to individuals of other races (Alger p. 2).
