Trifles: A Character Interpretation Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Mrs. Hale is one out of the five main characters in the one act play Trifles. If you were to take one part of the play (or three different parts as I did), and change her movements, actions, and facial expressions in two different ways, it changes the portrayal of Mrs. Hale and the tone of that scene. The first changes being the strongest and most obvious according to the lines she has, depicts her as very sympathetic and remorseful towards Mrs. Wright. She is this way almost to the point where she feels responsible for the incident at hand. The second changes cause Mrs. Hale to be read as routinely absent minded throughout the play and sorry for what has happened as it is misfortunate. There is a third change in the last scene that is the opposite of absent mindedness, but she is fully aware of what she is doing and uses it against the men. The three Different parts that are to be discussed are extremely important as they have the strongest portrayals of Mrs. Hale in these three different ways, whether deeply remorseful where you can feel her emotion and how guilt struck she is,......
