In my opinion, Shirley Q. Liquor is definitely not violating any laws or the rights of
people in our country. She is simply trying to be humorous and make her audience laugh. Many
groups do not see Shirley Q. as being humorous though. They see her as being extremely
offensive to others.
There are many social, cultural, and racial groups that protest Shirley Q. Liquors
performances, but there are also many that have no problem and believe that it is very humorous.
The National Association of Black and White Men Together is an example of an opposing
group, but in many regions there are African Americans and caucasians that absolutely love her.
The First Amendment should protect Shirley Q.s freedom of speech just as it protects the
peoples right to protest. The audiences rights are also being affected when they are unable to
see Shirley Q. perform because of cancellation due to a protest. By the way, there are many
other comedians, such as Chris Rock, Larry the Cable Guy, and Jeff Foxworthy ......
