Faith- Night Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Everybody has faith in something or someone but it does not stay forever. People can have strong faith in something and in a blink of an eye they lose faith because of a dramatic event. Eliezer Wiesel, the protagonist in "Night", goes through this as he lives life in a concentration camp struggling to live with his family among the antagonistic Nazis. It is sad how someone can have faith, start to lose faith, and then finally lose faith. It is also more sad when someone who lives life in the most religious way loses faith.
In the beginning, the Jews started to have faith, once they were accustomed to what had been happening, especially on the subject of food. Eliezer says: "We still had a few provisions left...to save up for tomorrow. Tomorrow might be worse (Pg 21)." Food could be symbolic of faith. They must have a little faith now, to save up the rest for tomorrow's hell. They did not know what was going to happen tomorrow but they were prepared for it by having some confidence that they would live through the night.
