Who was more important- Lenin or Stalin? Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Lenin introduced a harsh policy called War Communism. This forced peasants to hand over food so that towns and armies could be fed. He took over the factories of Moscow and Petrograd so thatthey could dupply their armies with equipment and ammunition. If the towns were not fed, then the workers would not get any food, and therefore would be unable to work as hard, resulting in less produce. Lenin and the Bolsheviks also introduced War Communism which was harsh economic measures during the civil war. It's first aim was to help with the civil war by keeping the towns and the Red Army supplied with food and weapons. It achieved his first aim of winning the war, but this caused terrible hardship with the peasants, as they refused to grow food because it was taken away by the government. This led to a famine in which seven million Russian people died. However, through sacrificing these people, he helped to win the war. Lenin then abandoned War Communism and introduced the New Economic Policy when he recognised that changes were necessary. The New Economic Policy brought back capi......
