There were numerous strategies used throughout World War 1, just as there has been in wars since including World War 2, Vietnam, Korean and even the civil war. Just as there is war today in Iraq and the strategies we continue to use.
According to www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk, One of the main strategies that were used in World War 1 was the trench in which the enemies fought from a system of trenches. Trench warfare arose when there was a revolution in firepower without similar advances in mobility and communication. The Germans had the tactical advantage because they were on higher ground and it left the British only a few feet above sea-level. As soon as soldiers would begin to dig, they would without fail find water two or three feet below the surface. Along the whole line, trench life involved a never-ending battle against water and mud. Duckboards were situated at the bottom of the trenches to protect the soldiers from problems such as trench feet.
