The work of William Tennessee in the play “A Streetcar Named Desire” is exposed with the degeneration of human feelings and relationships. The character of the heroine Blanche, suffers from broken families and she does not find her place in the society. She is lonely and afraid of much that surrounds her. The play is about a married couple Stella and Stanley Kowalski, who are visited by Stella’s older sister, Blanche DuBois. The drama tells the story of the pathetic, mental and emotional downfall of a determined, yet fragile, shy and weak lady. The character of Blanche is without a doubt the most complex in the drama. She is truly a tragic heroine. Blanche is introduced with innocence. She is from the upper-class, intelligent, sensitive, fragile, and beautiful. All these good characteristics are Blanche’s first opinion, however we see what kind of person she really is while the drama continuous.
