Bread Givers Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The Birth of Jewish Culture in a Young America The novel, Bread Givers is labeled as a pure fictional story of a Jewish family’s migration into a new world. Anzia Yezierska however, wrote using her past as a backbone of the plot, transforming the story from any other fictional piece to almost a primary source from the early twentieth century. By doing this Anzia allows the readers to live a life just as many Jewish emigrants did and at the same time teach an important time line in American and Jewish history. Thus proving that the novel, Bread Givers is a direct reference to Anna Yezierska’s life and acts as a source of political, religious, and economic hardships for Jewish emigrants. The author Anzia Yezierska was born in a shtetl which is a small Jewish village or town in Eastern Europe, most likely Plotsk, in Russia Poland (Google, 1). From there she emigrated into the United States at the age of eight. Unfortunately for Anzia she was part of a nine children family who was deep in poverty. She grew in East Side of New York, in a Jewish Ghetto. Anzia did not get along well ......
