Richard Cory Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Adrienne Taylor The poem that I read is named, “Richard Cory”, by Edward Arlington Robinson. It talks about a young man by the name of Richard who seems to a cool suave and very rich individual who everyone in the town admired. He was the true definition of a gentleman, in every sense of the word. At some times it seemed as though he were not alive until he gave off a “Good-morning” to the people. He was a heartthrob who made pulses flutter whenever he spoke. The man was also rich-richer than a king. This man had some money on top of more money. He was a filthy rich socialite who had it all. When I read that he was “admirably schooled in every grace” I was pretty convinced that he was the modern day Harvard type student who always made superior grades and had the nicest manners that a person ever had. The people thought he was everything and they wished so badly that they were in his place, living the rich and the luxurious life that he was so accustomed to living. “They worked and waited for the light” is what really caught me by the eye.
