Nationalism was at a pinnacle during the era of good feelings, but despite this there was still some severe sectionalism occurring in both politics and the economy. From the protective tariff proposed by Henry Clay to the Missouri Comprise sectionalism was clear and it showed that there could be the beginning of a deeper split in the Union.
Nationalism during this time was very evident with many people feelings very proud about the War of 1812 and with no political tensions ,as far as the presidency was concerned, it was a very good time for our country. People were making toasts that quickly became famous such as Stephen Decatur, along with these toasts came very prideful songs such as The American Flag by Joseph-Rodman Drake. However this great time could last so long before sectionalism would once again be obvious.
