The color of ones skin sometimes had a lot to do with ones self concept. Many people get inferiority complexes because they feel that the world favors better to a person who is of lighter skin color. This is sad because not only should a person not have to feel this way, but they worst part is that a lot of people are nicer to people who are generally lighter in skin color. I feel that it goes as far back as slavery. The darker less attractive slaves were sent out to labor in the fields, while the lighter skinned more attractive slaves were kept in the house. Society has adapted the thought process of the slave era.
Children can be very cruel, but yet be very honest. I have heard children teasing one another because of skin color. This has been taught, no doubt, but what they say is really on a whole how society feels. Children only act how they are taught to act and repeat what they hear. So if they call someone ugly because he or she is dark skinned, it is most likely because that is the way their parents or people in that persons family feel or because it is herd on televisio......
