The Giver is a fiction book written by Lois Lowry. The main character is Jonas; he lives in a place where sameness and predictability are both common. All he sees is Black and White both literally and figuratively. He sees it literally because the people were changed at birth so that everyone could see the same things. And he sees it figuratively because he does not experience anything outside the box.
The author formats The Giver in third person, using a viewpoint where only Jonas thoughts and feelings are explained. Through Jonas eyes, his community appears to be a utopiaa perfect placethat is self-contained and isolated from Elsewhere, every other place in the world.
