The story A Clean Well-Lighted Place is a story about a deaf old man caught in the middle of life and death. The old man has attempted suicide, but was stopped. Now he lives out his days and nights at a cafe drinking all night until he gets thrown out of the cafe. The old man always sits in the same spot in the cafe. The cafe has two waiters, an old waiter, and a younger waiter. In the story the old man makes many choices that affect his life and the ones around him.
The story A Clean well-lighted place takes place in a cafe. The cafe is a clean, well lighted, quiet place where customers can go to have a meal or a drink in peace. The old man comes the the cafe everyday and always sits in the same place, in the corner where it was peaceful. The old man was deaf and he could sense the street was calm and the dew was settling. He stays all night and drinks. Every night when he leaves he is very drunk. I believe that the message is that everybody has a special place that they can go where they feel warm and safe. For the old man it is the cafe, for others it may be home, or work, or eve......
