1 APA Format The APA style is the American Psychological Association format for writing papers, and it is the format most commonly used in the social sciences (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citation). The latest edition of the APA style lists guidelines and examples for citing electronic and online sources (http://www.apastyle.org/whatsnew.html). Two common core elements of the APA format are in-text citations and references. There are guidelines to structure this process of citing sources.
