Since the beginning of time women have been looked down by men. They have considered them dumb and even a form of property. For a long time, in many women were expected to marry and have children and were not required to have much intelligence. Being physically and emotionally abused by men, women from early 1900s struggled to break this mold formed by society. But even with the pain of bearing children, raising them, doing household chores, their efforts were never truly appreciated. The stories Trifles and Woman at Point Zero clearly explore the repression of women in the 1900s. By showing readers many common signs of women oppression, both stories vividly depict societies which have a negative attitude towards men and take action to oppress them.
