INTRODUCTION
What is law? To define law is like defining the meaning of life. Philosophers and lawmakers, alike, have struggled with both generations since the beginning of humanitys need for law. However, the simplest definition of law is the rule of conduct that is necessary and upheld by a state. The terms defining the rule of conduct and the disciplinary measures taken to uphold such conduct has always varied according to ideology; political ideologies gave power to the government, while religious ideologies gave power to the religious authorities. Also, a politico-religious ideology would emerge amalgamating the power of the state and religious authority.
Canada is a political authority in which the power of governing the conduct of law is taken through democracy and upheld by the basic tenets of the sources of law.
