Rhetorical Analysis of Zell Miller’s Address to the RNC Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

“This election will change forever the course of history, and that’s not any history, it’s our family’s history.” On September 1, 2004, Democratic Senator Zell Miller addressed the Republican National Convention in New York City and echoed the feelings of many that the upcoming election would have a great impact on America’s future. In his fiery and persuasive speech, Miller urges his audience – the thousands in Madison Square Garden and the millions watching at home – to elect President George W. Bush to four more years. The republicans chose the Georgian Senator to be their keynote speaker to convey a message of urgency to the nation, to deliver that message stronger than DNC keynote speaker Barak Obama, and to convince listeners that the democratic party today does not hold the same principles of FDR and Truman, nor does it wish to work with republicans to “ensure that freedom will not falter.” Throughout his speech, Miller uses several examples of political and military rhetoric to his advantage; some of which produce valid arguments, and others that may be considered......
