The British economy from 1780 to 1860 was unpredictable because it was novel, not to say bizarre.
Revolution, a term largely defined as a dramatic social change or transformation over a relatively short period of time, can in this context be interpreted in a variety of different ways. Indeed there is no denying that the changes that took place during this particular time period had dramatic implications on British society, resulting in its modernization. Nevertheless I believe there was much more to the revolution than sole industrialisation, and the following events urged forward through advances in industry could themselves be described as revolutionary.
