Describe the Main Powers in Europe in the Early Twentieth Century, Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Their were five main powers in Europe in the early twentieth century, France, Germany, Russia ,Britain and Austria Hungary , I am going to examine and describe each power comparing things like there military strength and foreign policy amongst other qualities to reach my conclusion as to which of the five main powers was the most powerful overall.
Russia had promising military strength with 4.4million soldiers (5.9 m planned), 16 battleships and 23 submarines but it is worth noting that their strength was greater on paper than it was in reality, which although not ideal for the country worked rather well, due to the fact that Germany had a certain fear about this, this was not only because Russias army seemed to be a rather decent size but also because ,due to their large population , had the potential to expand and the fact that Germany is surrounded by the countries of the Triple Entent (France, Russia and Britain) just added to the fear even more.
