Maya Angelou a strong black actress, poet, singer, and writer went through a lot of things in her day, but still keep her head up. I intend to tell you about all Maya have been through in her life.
Maya Angelou was born on April 4, 1928 in Saint Louis, Missouri. Marguerite Johnson adopted the name Maya Angelou in her twenties when she performed as a dancer at the Purple Onion cabaret. Maya lived with her mother Vivian Johnson and her father Bailey Johnson until they got divorced. She and her brother Bailey moved with their grandmother Mrs. Flowers in Stamps, Arkansas. Maya loved here grandma very much. After five years living with her grandma, Maya and her brother moved back with their mother in St. Louis. Unfortunately her mothers boyfriend raped her.
When her family found out Maya was raped they were devastated. He only spent one night. One of the family members was so mad that they killed him three days later. Maya didnt talk for five years because she thought her voice was deadly.
