Redbone Coonhounds The Red Bone Coonhound is a robust and strong hound. It has a clean, nicely shaped head, with a medium stop between the eyebrow and nose. The long hanging ears reach to the tip of the nose, when following a scent. The tail is standing straight up. The paws are small and cat-like, with strong pads. The skin is a rich red color. The coat is shiny, lies flat, and is short like the Beagle. Coat colors include red and red with a bit of white. The Redbone Coonhound is a happy, even tempered hound, and is great with children. It can be surprisingly loving and has a pleasant -sounding bark. They love being with their people. If raised indoors from puppyhood, it will adapt well to family life. Redbone hounds are instinctive hunters, and it is not hard to train the breed to follow the scent and tree a coon. The Redbone has a strong desire to please their master. They are hotter-nosed, able to locate, and faster tree a coon than many other coonhounds. Like other coonhounds, the Redbone is quick, alert, and able to work in all kinds of weather over difficult terrain. ......
