I. Vorwort
Bertolt Brecht wurde am 10. Februar 1898 in Augsburg geboren und starb mit 58 Jahren am 14. August 1956 in Berlin. Er war wohl der einflussreichste deutsche Dramatiker und Lyriker des 20. Jahrhunderts und wurde sowohl deutschlandweit als auch international für seine Werke angesehen und ausgezeichnet. Er gilt als Begründer des Epischen Theaters.
Eines seiner bekanntesten Werke ist das epische Drama Der gute Mensch von Sezuan, welches ab 1926 entstand und 1943 im Schauspielhaus Zürich uraufgeführt wurde.1 Es ist geradezu ein Musterbeispiel des epischen Lehrtheaters Brechts, aus dem sämtliche Elemente der klassischen Dramentheorie verbannt wurden.
Obwohl die Betrachtung der epischen Elemente des Stückes durchaus sehr interessant ist, möchte ich mich hauptsächlich mit der Thematik des Stückes beschäftigen.
